The event, hosted by Sally Brown, Amy Ingram and Camila Alves McConaughey is part ofMack, Jack, and McConaughey (mackjackmcconaughey.org), the joint fundraising effort of actor Matthew McConaughey, recording artist Jack Ingram, and Texas coaching legend Mack Brown that benefits Children’s Charities across the United States. This year the funds raised through MJ&M will support The Rise School of Austin, just keep livin Foundation, HeartGift, CureDuchenne, and Grounded in Music.
Dressed in a fuchsia Badgley Mischka dress, stunner Camila McConaughey welcomed the crowd and thanked them for helping raise almost a million dollars for this year’s event (to help reach that mark, she encouraged post-wine shopping and donations). Guests sipped cava and nibbled on bites from Jeffrey’s before taking in the ultra feminine collection, which featured ethereal romantic gowns, and a pink- and lilac-inspired palette punctuated by a few traditional navy pieces, and enough swinging beaded fringe to make Liza Minnelli proud. Badgley Mischka was a natural choice to headline the event, Camila said, because they represent “a classic, beautiful, but not over-the-top style that’s a perfect fit for Austin.”
As for the designers, they’re drawn to the creative spirit of Austin. “It’s not big and complicated like Houston or Dallas, but it has an easy, vibrant sophistication,” said James Mischka just before the show. “It’s all about easy elegance,” he continued.
The MJ&M weekend kicked off last night with a gala and live auction that included a Jack Ingram performance and a sold out concert by Sheryl Crow. For those who favor beer over beaded gowns, a Celebrity Classic Golf Tournament is held today at Barton Creek Resort.
