Managing Editor

TRIBEZA, Austin’s leading arts and culture magazine, is looking for a Managing Editor.

Strong candidates will have:

  • Curiosity and an innate desire to seek out and reveal new and interesting content to our audience
  • Creative writing and editing chops for online and print publications
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Social media prowess and editing skills for multiple platforms
  • A desire to engage with Austin community at events
  • An eye for good design, style and trends
  • Smart, innovative ideas to help grow the brand
  • Fearlessness, a sense of humor and flexibility
  • The ability to balance creativity with meeting monthly, recurring deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • The ability to juggle many projects at once
  • A strong desire to learn and grow with the TRIBEZA brand

As TRIBEZA’s Managing Editor you’ll:

+ Assist the editor with conceptualizing, writing and researching projects

+ Attend and assist with creative brainstorm sessions

+ Contribute writing - Pitch, report and write original stories for print magazine (on-going)

+ Copyedit/provide editorial feedback on magazine including proof

+ Schedule and maintain digital editorial calendar (articles, newsletters, e-blasts, sponsored posts, social media, etc.)

+ Serve as the digital editor, curating exclusive web articles

+ Copyedit for digital content including fact checking

+ Manage Tribeza.com web content and layouts and handle conversions from print to digital in Wordpress, releasing all digital content in conjunction with print deadlines.

+ Work on supplemental, multimedia content for digital platforms (video execution chops here are a plus)

+ Manage and execute TRIBEZA's social media accounts, maintaining a strict schedule of frequent buzzworthy postings and content-promotion postings

+ Serve as the editor and voice of TRIBEZA Talk, our monthly print column highlighting the latest local buzz in Austin

+ Serve as editor and voice of TRIBEZA’s weekly e-newsletter - write, schedule, and manage, including managing digital advertising within newsletter and online

+ Concept creative ways to further the TRIBEZA brand

+ Manage community outreach for TRIBEZA

+ Execute TRIBEZA’s sponsorships, agreements and donations coordinated by sales team/directors.

+ Manage TRIBEZA's intern program, conducting interviews, training, assignments and ongoing performance reviews

+ Assist the publisher and editor with administrative duties, as needed

+ Handle scheduling and assignments for Social Hour photoshoots

+ Assist with photoshoots and interviews as assigned and needed
