Recently, I’ve found that the answer to, "How are you?" is the same for so many. It is often "I’m so busy," "I can barely keep up" and "I’m struggling to stay ahead." Once I started hearing those responses, I became sensitive to how I was answering the same question. Sure enough “I’m so busy” is my go-to answer and there are times where I feel like I can barely keep my head above water. I know we’re all very busy. I’ve spent the last two years building a world-class fitness studio here in Austin and the last three months building our franchising program which has been a ton of work!
The truth is… I’ve been slipping. I am working out less and my nutrition seems to have been derailed with the Holiday parties. You may ask, "Maja, how is this possible? You have an entire wellness team at your disposal?" You’re thinking that if I’m struggling to prioritize my health then how can you be expected to make health your priority. But the thing is I am not the typical fitness person, and that makes me so accessible to our clients. My background was in technology, and I gave it all up to follow my passion. I don’t have a perfect body. I still wish I could lose those last five pounds. And, I have nights when I eat with reckless abandon and then regret it in the morning. I’m just like you.
"I’m so busy" is just like saying, "My dog ate my homework." Both mean you take no responsibility. Yes the dog ate your homework, but you wrapped it in bacon and left it on the floor. Being so busy isn’t something that just happens to us. We allow it to happen and unfortunately, if you’re like me, exercise and nutrition seem to be the first things that slip.
As you evaluate all the things you allow into your life, realize you are the chef in your own kitchen. I can’t help you prioritize your life...only you can do that heavy lifting. I can, however, make it a little easier for you to incorporate fitness into the tiny time slots in your day.
